Dishwashers really only come in one size. 34 inches tall, etc.

The hole in our cabinets is 34 inches tall. The dishwasher door is 33.875 inches tall. This is good.

The dishwasher body, with rubber insulation, is 34.25 inches tall – this is after we cut away the cellulose insulation. This is not what the box says (34” dishwasher) and it is not good.

So instead of just being able to hook up the thing and install it, we’ve had to do major reconstruction on our countertop to get the damn thing to fit.

Oh, and the old dishwasher got hauled off yesterday morning.

I ran into a similar problem when installing mine a few years ago. I ended up tiltin it up and removing the leveling feet that were on the bottom. Granted, I had to level it with thin wooden door shims, but I didnt have to rip out my counter tops.

Good luck, and I hope yours has the footpads like mine did.

Dechion ยป We’ve already taken the feet and the wheels off of it. The amount of cellulose insulation was substantial, and the directions said we could remove some, but there’s a thick rubber pad covering the top of the dishwasher body that, by itself, is at least 1/8 if not 1/4 inch higher than 34 inches. We’ve gotten it to fit, but it’s meant taking part of the lip off of our countertop – which I’ll be fixing today, hopefully. SSH is very handy, but he gets frustrated when things don’t install properly, especially when they don’t install according to the directions. (I still can’t believe that a dishwasher that’s printed to be 34” can actually get away with being 1/4 inch taller than that)

Ugh. Installing dishwashers is always a royal PITA. Only time I ever got one in without trouble was when we tore out the whole kitchen, set the new dishwasher on the floor, and built a counter around it.
